Our Accredited Qigong Instructors

When looking for Qigong instructors you should always check that they are actually teaching Qigong and actually working with Qi. It is a sad fact that Qigong has been watered down to the point that the vast majority of what is now being taught is purely physical. At San Bao School we work with Qi. We teach Qigong in its truest sense.

What to look for from prospective Qigong instructors

Ask about their experience.

Ask about the Qigong that they are teaching.

Ask about their practice, about what Qigong they do for their own development.

Ask about what Meridians, Elements, and points are being worked with.

Ask about listening to the Qi.

Look for honesty in your teacher and steer clear of flannel.

I was introduced to the healing power of Qigong in 1985 by Master Joseph Bell, after I had switched from studying Karate, then Hapkido, to studying Taiji. This change was made because of a debilitating back injury that had left me in constant pain, with lower back weakness and the beginning of scoliosis. The prognosis was not good and I was told that I would have to accept it and manage my life around it.

To cut a long story short, Master Bell asked if I would allow him to try to help.  I accepted and within a few minutes my life had changed. Read more

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC.

I’ve always been interested in mind/body work since becoming a clinician, especially in how energy work can help improve mental health.

I started out learning Tai Chi in the early 1980s, however, after coming across Qiqong in 1991 and finding it most beneficial for an old knee injury, I pursued that for personal use. In 2003 I was working in Oncology and The Maggie’s Centre in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness and started training in Qiqong in order to help those who were less able to move. Read More

My first specific introduction to Qi was in 1988 when I was taken to see an Acupuncturist. He held out his hands and asked me what I could feel. I thought he had hair-dryers hidden up his sleeves. Thus began my interest in energetic medicine.

I then had brushes with Qi in a Tai Chi class, and when swapping from Karate to another martial arts form where the kata were taught as representing and therefore triggering different elements.

Unfortunately I also have various experiences of Martial arts and Qi Gong taught ‘improperly’ and/or without the students best interests at heart. There were diamonds of knowledge to be had in there, but an awful lot of muck and potential harm to wade through. Read More

Hello, I’m Susan!

Over twenty years ago, on a trip to London I saw a group of people in Hyde Park practicing tai chi. They had been moving gracefully and in synchronism, and I had been fascinated. This led me to learning tai chi back home, and incorporating it into my daily routine.

More recently, I have turned to practicing Shibashi Qigong, learning with the knowledgeable and experienced teacher Des Lawton. I have completed my instructor qualification and am pleased to discuss providing sessions for groups and individuals in the Fife/Kinross area. Read More

I was first introduced to the power of Qi Gong in the early 1990s on an alternative holiday in Greece. I have used this practice in my own life to manage stress, anxiety and physical well being ever since.

I worked as an occupational therapist in the NHS for over 20 years, specialising in mental health. I now work with people with dementia and their carers part time for a charity.

In recent years I have facilitated Qi gong groups in nursing homes and day centres as well as working with individuals. I have also run workshops with voluntary groups and social care professionals.

Since attending  Des ‘s course I have adapted my Qi Gong to incorporate the internal aspects of this wonderful practice much more fully.

Hi there,

this is me: Susanne Pitruzzella – Shiatsu practitioner, Shiatsu teacher, Shibashi Qigong instructor, Shōnishin Acupuncturist, as well as Reiki Master and mother of two boys. As you can see, I am very passionate about methods and techniques originating in the far East.

It all began with three years of Shiatsu training, which didn’t involve Japanese massage treatment techniques, only, but also an introduction to Japanese culture, history, and philosophy and Eastern Exercises of various kind. Well, what can I say – I was hooked: curious to dive deeper into Eastern knowledge such as the Five Elements, Acupuncture, and also Qigong, of course.

Hence, I’ve been striving to broaden my knowledge continuously to assist my clients – great and small – the best I can with the treatment and the courses I provide: holistically, individually, as well as competent – according to their personal needs. Read More
