Description
Although having similar names, the Embroidered Brocade and the Eight Pieces of Brocade (AKA the Ba Duan Jin) are two entirely different sets. The Embroidered Brocade is a set of seven Qigong exercises, namely: Folding Over, the Circle of Light, the Billowing Sail, the Sun and the Moon, the White Crane, the Snake, and the Taiji Walk.
Benefits
The numerous benefits of these exercises include:
- Stimulating Qi flow in the Yin and Yang meridians of the legs.
- Stimulating Qi flow in the Arm Yin & Yang meridians.
- Opening Ming Men and Dazhui (Du Mai 14). AKA “Big Bone” this is the first thoracic vertebra, where the Qi can often get stuck.
- Bringing awareness of and building the skill of sinking the Qi while raising the Shen.

I learned the Embroidered Brocade Qigong way back in the mid 1980s when I switched from the External Martial Arts to the Internal. This set of Qigong was a huge asset at the time as it helped me to understand and correct my posture while also gaining more access to my Qi. Thirty seven years later and I am still practicing it………………….. It is as big an asset to me now as it was then. This set of Qigong has huge depth and I continue to learn from it and gain further understanding through its practice. Des Lawton
